It’s Cotton Time!

This year is a special  for us, since we are using our own cotton seeds from last years harvest. We planted the cotton seeds on April 1st.  So far, the brown cotton has germinated the best; however, we do have a few green cotton plants and one pima cotton plant. The very first signs of cotton growth are the cotyledons (seed leaves) that supply food to the germinating seed.

The University of Maryland Extension site has more information on Cotton Germination and Seedling Development.
