End of Year Review

Well, 2011 flew by and it’s already February 2nd.  Happy Ground Hog Day!  Lots of fibery events have taken place since I last posted. So, here are some of the highights:

We attended the New York Sheep & Wool Festival (aka Rhinebeck) for the first time in October.  We visited lots of sheep and even met a few Soay sheep up close and personal.   I was finally able to get close enough to Spirit Trail Fiberworks  to discover what’s so special about their fiber; I scored a few ounces of  Hebridean Sheep locks and I am anxiously awaiting to spin them.

Here are a few friends we met at the festival….

After the festival, we drove around the area and stumbled upon some grazing sheep and a flock of  colorful chickens in Staatsburg, New York.

We are already making plans for next October.

We also concluded our year long Lease a Sheep Program at Feederbrook Farm.  It was a great program and we learned a lot.  Did you know clover is a legume? We are looking forward to working on the farm again this year.  Lil Abner is now residing with the alpacas since lambing season is about to start.

Here’s a few pictures from our time on the farm:

    Dan said,

Awesome work. Though I do think it should be “Looking forward to a productive, fibrous New Year!” I hope everything is awesome in Baltimore!
