Cotton 2012: Colored Cotton

Cotton Plants

Cotton Plants

This past March, we planted several peat pots with green, brown, pima and upland cotton seeds. Several cotton plants germinated; however, only one pima and one upland cotton seed germinated.  Unfortunately, they sprouted and proceeded to shrivel up before we could plant them outside.  So, this year we have seven cotton plants (a mix of green and brown cotton) happily growing.  They are about 18 inches tall and are sporting their first squares (first stage of cotton boll development).
